Moonshot AI shipped Kimi K3: 2.8 trillion parameters, a 1M-token context window, native vision, and the promise of full open weights by July 27.

The market understood immediately. Zhipu fell 28.4% the next day. MiniMax dropped 15.6%. Bank of America wrote that Moonshot proved you can reach the frontier on restricted chips by out-designing the training, and Simon Willison had it running the same morning.
