The LatAm AI Investor Map lists 378 investors that say they’re active in Latin America, with stage, HQ and thesis for each one. Premium members get the whole directory today, and every fund in it carries an AI conviction score.

I spent 2 days scoring it, because a list of names won’t tell you who writes AI checks. Only 22 of the 378 investors confirm they’re actively investing, and 331 carry no fund status at all. 5 list a latest investment, and all 5 are dated between November 2019 and January 2020.

Meanwhile, AI money in the region moved fast. Decade, a Brazilian AI-native wealth advisor, announced an $85 million seed in August, the largest seed round on record for a Latin American startup. a16z and QED co-led Carecode’s $4.3 million pre-seed for AI agents in healthcare.

So I turned the directory into a shortlist. Every fund got an AI conviction score from 0 to 5, with the rule for each point written down and a named source behind every AI deal.

Funnel chart of Latin America investors: 378 listed in the directory, 373 unique after merging duplicates, 268 with an AI conviction score of 1 or higher, 107 with 2 or higher, 27 with 3 or higher, and 17 with a sourced AI deal since 2024
From 378 listed investors to 27 with real AI conviction.

The surprise is who drops out and who stays in. 11 rows mention AI or machine learning in the thesis, and once you remove a duplicate and a false match, 9 funds are left. Only 5 of them make the final 27.

Kaszek co-led a $12 million seed into Primero, a Mexico City company building enterprise AI agents, this year. Its stated thesis never mentions AI. Monashees opened a San Francisco office to sit closer to the AI wave, and its thesis is silent on AI too.

A fund’s thesis is what it wrote years ago. Its last 3 deals are what it believes today.
